Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple Sigandur or Sigandooru is small village located in Sagara Taluk, Karnataka, India. The village is in the middle of thick ever green forest and surrounded on three sides by backwaters of Linganamakki dam formed by Sharavathi River. The place is known for Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple, which attracts thousands of people every day. Sigandur is about 35 kms from its taluk headquarters, Sagara town. Sigandur was cut off from Sagar once reservoir on Sharavathi River was constructed. 2 barges, which carry vehicles, tourists, pilgrims and local people provides connectivity across the water. Barge service stops at 6 PM every day. Sigandur is surrounded by water on three sides and connected by road on one side, which can be reached through any of the following three routes by car/bus:- 1.Kollur -Nittur /Nagodi –Tumari-Sigandur. 2. Sagar- Kargal-Kogar- Tumari –Sigandur 3. Shimoga-Hosanagara- Nagara-Nittur- Tumari- Sigandur. Barge is the nearest and major means of transport to this place. But many a time you may find it difficult to take your vehicle in the barge due heavy rush. The Goddess Chowdeshwari at Sigandur temple is very powerful. If prayed honestly one can get a positive result without fail. In many cases problems are solved here without going to the courts of justice. Daily Pooje Timings Morning : 3.30 to 7.00 Morning : 8.00 to 2.30 Evening : 5.30 to 7.30 Amavasye – Hunnime Pooje Timings Morning : 3 to 5 AM Again : 7.30 to 2.30 PM only there is no evening pooje.
